How it works?

At your consultation, Dr. Freschi will give you the time you need to discuss your concerns and expectations. He will provide an honest assessment of your situation and his professional opinion regarding the surgical options available to you. Please be prepared to present your medical history.
A medical examination will be performed where necessary, including measurements and photography.
Dr. Freschi will clearly explain any proposed treatment or operation, including any associated risks and limitations. As not every person is suitable for surgery, you will be advised if you should wait a few years or consider other options. You will be encouraged to ask questions and take time to consider the information and plan of care. Your initial consultation will generally last 45-60 minutes, but may be less depending on the nature of the concern.

Following your consultation

If Dr. Freschi feels you are a suitable candidate for surgery, he will follow up your consultation with a letter summarising your discussion and your proposed treatment, including an estimate of costs.
You are encouraged to take time in making an informed decision regarding your treatment. Some patients, however, decide upon surgery during their first consultation. If you have any further questions, we would be very happy to arrange further consultations at no additional charge.

The day of your surgery

You will be seen prior to surgery by Dr. Freschi who will speak with you and mark the areas of treatment. If you are having general anaesthesia or sedation, you will also be seen by the consultant anaesthetist, who will ask supplementary questions, explain about anaesthesia and discuss your post-operative pain treatment.

During surgery

Your health and safety is our primary concern and you will be cared for by a highly qualified professional team throughout your stay in hospital. The anaesthesia will be initiated by an injection into a blood vessel in your hand. You will be monitored constantly by the anaethetist, who will be by your side during the entire procedure.

After surgery, you will be transferred into the recovery area where you will be cared for by our nurse. Every effort is made to make you feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible, whilst ensuring high standards of patient care.

Follow up and checkups

Immediately after your operation, Dr. Freschi will visit you in your room, although you may not remember this visit if you are still under the effects of anaesthesia. He will visit you again prior to your discharge from hospital. If staying in hospital over a few days, you will be seen on a daily basis.
You will usually be seen in the office one week after surgery, at which time any stitches will be removed. However, if you have any questions or concerns, you will be seen more frequently or as often as you wish. We provide a highly personalised service, tailored to your individual needs.
Long-term follow-ups are often scheduled around 3 months, 6 months and 1 year after your surgery.
